A Finnish company that aims at creating universal equipment for moving in winter conditions, wading through deep snow – an equipment that would be suitable for everybody.

For years, they have searched for an ideal ski that would allow you to operate in a varied terrain, though would not be a typical downhill ski – it was rather supposed to be a combination between a ski-touring ski and a cross-country ski. The production location guaranteed easy access for gear testing. Gradually, a completely new ski concept was developed and that is how OAC Skinbased was born.

About the company

OAC Skinbased skiing equipment is characterised by its high quality and original design. The producer offers two categories of skis that may be selected according to the user’s needs – XCD Skis and Skishoes. Another category on the offer are ski bindings that fit practically any winter boots with a flexible sole (therefore, they do not require specialist ski boots). The Skinbased bindings resemble snowboarding bindings, while the technique for moving is similar to cross-country skiing with its “free heel”.

This new concept is a combination of two ski types – a touring ski and a cross-country ski – with a skin integrated in the middle section of skis. This innovative ski design gives you an opportunity to freely wander through knee deep snow, through beautiful winter forests, over long distances, with a heavy backpack, if necessary you may perform simple turns when going downhill, and, last but not least, you may fully take in picturesque winter landscapes.
